Rule Breakers is Bustle’s marquee initiative honoring femme and non-binary innovators and newsmakers who are breaking boundaries across entertainment, fashion, politics, and more. The 2019 event, held on September 21, featured musical performances from top female artists and immersive cultural experiences, bringing together a diverse community to celebrate the impactful contributions of these trailblazers. Bustle Digital Group (BDG) is a leading global media company with a portfolio that includes brands like Bustle, Elite Daily, and Gawker, reaching over 80 million readers and amplifying diverse voices on critical issues.
THE CHALLENGE
Organizing a day-long celebration for Rule Breakers posed the challenge of creating a cohesive event that effectively highlighted the achievements of female and non-binary innovators while ensuring a seamless experience for attendees, artists, and partners.
The goal was to engage a large audience while managing logistics, talent coordination, and immersive programming in a way that resonated with the diverse interests of our community.

In my role, I focused on project management and coordination, working closely with artists and event staff to ensure a smooth execution of the day’s activities. I oversaw artist relations, including scheduling rehearsals, managing logistics for performances, and serving as a point of contact for talent. I facilitated communication between various teams, tracking progress and addressing any issues that arose. Additionally, I contributed to the development of immersive programming elements that aligned with the event’s theme, ensuring an engaging experience for all attendees.
